National camera marked, national UAV hit with national MAM-L

Turkey has taken another important step towards national scientific and technological development. Bayraktar TB2 (Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), developed by Baykar, successfully performed its first test fire shot using the electro-optical system of reconnaissance, surveillance and guidance CATS, developed by Aselsan.
Bayraktar TB2, CATS and MAM-L
Yesterday, the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 successfully passed an important test using the electro-optical system of tactical reconnaissance, surveillance and guidance CATS, whose integration work is still ongoing. Bayraktar TB2, which took off from the Baykar Flight and Training Center and had under its wings a Roketsan-developed MAM-L (mini-controlled ammunition) – nonexplosive ammunition - fired a successful shot thanks to laser guidance performed by the national CATS camera system.
A long-range hit with laser guidance
MAM-L, which has a laser beam detector directed from Bayraktar TB2, accurately hit the target, located on the island of Hedef in the Gulf of Saros, from a great altitude and long range with the help of laser guidance performed by CATS.
The test flights assessed the ability of CATS to lock on and track a rapidly moving target. The national camera system has successfully passed all tests. The CATS user interface is labeled ‘National Technology Achievement’.

The test flights, which took place last week, were attended by the Technical Director of Baykar Selçuk Bayraktar and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan, General Director Prof. Haluk Görgün. The integration work carried out with the cooperation of Aselsan, Baykar and Roketsan, the leading companies in the defense industry of Turkey, is planned to be completed in a short time.
